Definition

As part of a Citation or NLM Citation Model, the number of pages of a referenced item, typically a book

Remarks

The <page-count> element is modeled as an EMPTY element (that is, an element that has no content and stores its real values in one or more attributes) because the majority of journal DTDs that were examined in the course of preparing this DTD used this mechanism, an inheritance of the older MAJOUR-header DTD.
