graphic-type

Graphic Display Type (obsolete)

Display or formatting type (style) for a graphic

Remarks

Best Practice: This deprecated attribute is an artifact, a hold-over from previous NLM Tag Sets. It has been included in this Tag Set so that older documents which use this attribute need not be converted. Best practice is not to use this attribute, but to tag graphics using this Tag Set’s <disp-formula>, <inline-formula><graphic>, and <inline-graphic> elements.

Attribute Values

In Element

<graphic>
Value Meaning
Text, numbers, or special characters The type of display or formatting for a graphic, for example, “offset” or “intext
Restriction: This attribute may be specified if the element is used.

Suggested usage

Values may be any text, but suggested values include any of the following:

offset

Used to set off display formulae from text (Since all display formulae are so offset in the new Tag Sets, this is effectively the default value. Better practice is to tag such formulae using the <disp-formula> element.)

intext

Used to display formulae in the text (Better practice is to tag such formulae using the <inline-formula> element.)

inlinefig

Used to display graphics as inline (not called out) figures (Better practice is to tag such graphics using the <inline-graphic> element.)
